Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
The world famous UNEXSO in Freeport features many activities, including swimming with dolphins, diving with sharks, scuba diving and more.
Located just 20 minutes along the south shore of the island is Sanctuary Bay, a 9-acre lagoon that 14 Atlantic Bottle Nose Dolphins call home. These are the dolphins of UNEXSO.
The Dolphin Experience
Enjoy a variety of dolphin Interactions at the Dolphin Encounter Lagoon. But before you join them for a swim, you will participate in an educational lesson about the dolphins, as you watch them splash and jump around. Next, you will enter a three-foot submerged platform where you can physically interact with a dolphin, as skilled trainers oversee your interaction with the dolphins as you learn more about them.
When the program is over, you can mingle with the macaws and African tortoises. Then relax and enjoy a Bahamian meal at the Dive In Marina Bar & Restaurant. Next, Sun and Sea Outfitters, inside the premises, is a great place to shop. Then visit their very own dive museum, which showcases the original equipment and artifacts used for diving since UNEXSO was founded in 1965.
You can take home your dolphin memories by purchasing photos taken during your experience with the dolphins.
Your visit to Grand Bahama is not complete until you swim with the dolphins. UNEXSO makes that possible by offering several daily departures to the 9 acre Dolphin Experience Lagoon.
